About PFA

The PFA program has the overall objective of building partnerships with organizations and individuals in the African American community that can contribute to the fight against HIV/ AIDS in its partner countries. Our program has particular focus on supporting organizations/programs in Africa that promote economic empowerment of women as poverty has been closely linked with the spread of the HIV/AIDS. In addition, there is a crisis developing in Africa as the number of orphaned children left to fend for themselves continues to spiral. PFA, therefore, also supports HIV/AIDS orphans. African women and children are suffering in huge numbers and disproportionately as a result of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

PFA Program Strategy

The PFA program focuses on eight countries in the eastern, southern, and central regions of Africa. The “Countries ” section highlights each of these partner countries. For each country, there is information provided on the:

  • Economy
  • Basic Indicators (access to health services, education, water, etc.)
  • History
  • Culture
  • Tourism Destinations
  • Profiles of NGO Partners

PFA has identified, initially, two organizations in each country that will be supported through the program. Some organizations identified in each country support economic empowerment activities of women and others provide support to HIV/AIDS orphans. The PFA program seeks to support a total of 16 such Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

To learn about various organizations we are supporting browse the "Partners In Africa" section of the site.

The PFA Philanthropist Program

PFA is establishing the PFA Fund for our nonprofit organizational partners in the eight countries mentioned above. We plan to support them in scaling up their activities in supporting poor women to be self employed and learn new skills. We also intend to support organizations doing the critical work of caring for HIV/AIDS orphans. We plan to raise funds for the PFA Fund primarily through donations. PFA is asking visitors to our website to become PFA Philanthropists.
